A Walk Down Memory Lane - 2/13/18

Shout out to Mum because it's her birthday today! So happy birthday Mum!! Have a good birthday. Tuesday, we did our laundry and went shopping. Then we had zone sports and emailed. We had some member appointments set but some of them cancelled so we did some finding until we had a appointment with a family in the RB ward. Wednsday, we went to the ESL class for Farsi speakers and had a lesson with an investigator in the park. We went to a Persian Pre-valentine's Day celebration and did some finding. We visited a few families in the wards and tried a few less-active members. Thursday, we visited a few families in the wards and did weekly planning.  We did some finding until we had dinner with the Speers and had RB correlation. Friday, we had zone service and lunch before district meeting. We did some service for a member in one of the wards and lots of finding. We visited a few families in the wards. Saturday, we had district sports and had a lesson with a part-member family but that fell through so we did some finding and went to a brunch in our complex. We had another lesson with an investigator but that also fell through so we visited some less-active members and try to contact some members in the ward. We had dinner with the Salmans and had a service project with one of our wards. One of the members in the Lake Hodges ward is from Bountiful and she went to Valley View Elementary, Millcreek Junior High, and Bountiful High, just like me! How crazy is that. Sunday, we went to ward council and had church church for both of our wards. One of the members in Lake Hodges ward named Jon Olsen came up to me at the end of church and said, I knew some Newman's in Tianjin China who worked for a Motorola company. I said that is my family. He remembered me when I was 3 years old and has wondered what was going on in the Tianjin branch for 16 years! It crazy how small the world is and now 16 years later I'm serving in the ward that this man knew me when I was 3. We had a couple of good lessons, one is with an investigator and the other one is a recent convert. With the recent convert, we were talking about temples, family history and eternal families and I told my story of how I got sealed to my family for time and eternity. And 17 years later, a couple of days before I went into the MTC, I went into that same little nursery place with my mum and it's where they took care of the kids and playing time. I told her that can be you and your son in about a year. Monday, we visited a less-active member and went to the ESL class for Farsi speakers. We visited a few families in the wards and tried some referrals before we had a lesson with an investigator who is an Imam at the Mosque. An Imam is like a priest or pasture or a bishop, the head leader of a congregation. The Mosque was so cool and said a prayer with them like you'll kneel and bow down to the floor. Before we said the prayer, we had to wash our hands. Then we had dinner with the Humberstones and had a lesson with an investigator.
