So in my last email, I said that I made it to the mission home and we met the President and his wife. They are really nice. That evening I met my companions, Elder Vasquez from Missouri and Elder Chen from Taiwan. They are really cool companions and I'm glad that I'm in a trio. They are also zone leaders. I'm in the El Cajon area and I'll be here for the next 12 weeks. I'm serving in Aunt Kim's old stake.  We met a new investigator that evening and he's from Armenia and he knows 6 languages fluently including Mandarin. Wednesday, we got up at 5am!! And we got ready and exercised. We went to the Mormon Battalion and toured it, it was pretty cool and I've already been there too. I saw Sister Tessa Muir (from the Muller Park 9th ward) as she was our tour guide. We went to visit a young boy (Javier) who's about the age of 14 and his sister (Anna) who's 21. She's raising him while their parents are living back in Mexico. Later that evening, we ha...

It's crazy to think how my time at the MTC went by so fast and now I'm in San Diego! Let's first go back to my last days in the MTC, Thursday the 14th was my last p-day and I got a haircut and did my laundry. We pretty much just relaxed for the rest of the day and played games and played some rugby. Friday, we had our last in-field orientation!! We also had TRCs which my companion and I taught Rodrigo repentance and he wants to change and get baptized!!!!! So that was awesome to hear and see that he wants to change. As usual, we have classes. The weather was so nice that day because it was in the 50s and it felt great! It was pretty cool and kinda windy which is my kind of weather when you're in church clothes all the time.  It was crazy how the new missionaries were asking my companion and me how to teach people better and become better teachers because we've been here for about 3 weeks. They are really looking up to us to be an example. Saturday, we taught our la...

Hello All! It's so crazy that this is my last email before I'm in San Diego! Time flies by so fast. I leave this coming Tuesday morning the 19th. I remember when I first got here, it just felt like I've been here for years. I'm so glad that my MTC experience is over and I'm (sorta) ready for the mission field. I'm excited to see what the next 2years brings me.  So my companion and I been teaching a young man named Andrew Yujiro Kakishita who is half Japanese and half American who is attending BYU and wants to know what the Mormons believe. The second lesson came and he just shut us down. I was like, "wow" because the first lesson went pretty well, so that was heartbreaking and disappointing. Anyways, I was thinking later on that evening how that was ok, I tried my best but he just wasn't ready. When I get into the mission field, I'll have similar situations just like I had with teaching Andrew.  This past Saturday we had class in th...

Hey y'all!  It`s been a full week. So Wednesday the 30th I went into the mtc and let me tell you, it was a LONG day. I had no time to unpack and go to the bathroom. They said, "drop your stuff and I'll show you where to go to class." And I'm like "sayyyy whatttt?" (In my mind) I just got here and you want me to go to class already? I got to meet my companion, Elder Olsen from Idaho. He's a good companion but hard to get along with.  It's hard to always be with someone that I have to rely on. I'm just so used to being able to do things on my own and do it at my own time.  When I met my district, I found out there's another Elder Newman and he's from Spokane Washington, so that was cool. There are 12 elders and 4 sisters in my district. I hate how the bed is so small and uncomfortable, it kinda makes it hard to sleep. I saw a lot of kids I know from Bountiful and Shanghai and it was good to see them. It was also nice running into Ali ...
