Jan 2, 2018 - Out With the Old and In With the New
Hello All!
This Tuesday was the last P-day of the year. For the rest of the day we went to see the USS Midway Museum and that was pretty cool. We went to have zone sports and played cutthroat and chair futbol. We came back and I went on splits with one of the Spanish Elders to go shopping because my companion wasn't feeling well.
On the last Wednesday of the Year, we just lounged around all day since my companion was sick. So we played some games, took naps and ate. Towards the end of the day, we did an exchange with Arabic so I can teach a lesson, it went really well.
Last Thursday of the Year, my companion still wasn't feeling well in the morning so we laid back a bit. By the afternoon he started feeling better so we had weekly planning and helped with an older couple in the ward to set up for their party. We also flew their drones because they were using them for their party and wanted us to see if they worked. After that, we did some street contacting and had a lesson with a member in the ward who has a hard time understanding the gospel.
Last Friday of the Year, we got ready for the day and had a lesson with an investigator who cancelled on us. Then we went to district meeting and had lunch. We went to try some investigators and went to visit a member in Granite Hills area. We went to the church to have a lesson but he stood us up so we went to try a referral and ran into a Caldian family. We also taught an English/Arabic lesson and that was so cool and fun. They fed us food and gave us gifts. Then we had a lesson with a Buddhist and that went well. We did it at a tea shop place called Trinity Tea. During the drive over, my companion and I were talking and we decided to tell everyone there about the gospel by starting off destroying the Trinity and explaining how tea is breaking the word of wisdom, hahaha, but we didn't. I have missed bubble tea so I got one.
Last Saturday of the Year, we had our last district morning sports for the year of 2017! Looking back at this crazy year, I see how much I've accomplished and the stuff I did. I'm truly grateful for all the things I've done in my life up to this point and the blessing that have come from it. We had a good day with 4 great back-to-back lessons. Then we went and tried a few people.
Last Sunday of the Year, I wasn't feeling well that morning so we didn't go to ward council and church. But by mid-day I was feeling better so we went to go find some people and ran into this guy who wanted to bash with us so we did but it was the most nice and polite bashing ever. Since we had to be in by 6:30pm, we had a New Year's Eve dinner and party with Arabic. Pretty much all evening we've been hearing sirens so it's lit down in El Cajon.
Monday, Happy New Year!! We had our first district morning sports of the Year and the Spanish missionaries came up for our first of the year breakfast and had pancakes. Then we went to go find some investigators and potential investigators and see if they had a few minutes. Arabic invited us to an Arabic bachelor party and man do they treat us like kings. We ate so much food and partied! Then we left to go find some people and made some cookies for the bishop's family. We ran into a big mess with scheduling the church building to have 3 baptisms and a funeral, so that was a crazy night. Tuesday, we went to the store with Arabic and the comics store.
