November 21st, 2018 - Weed and Cool Car
Hey all!
On Tuesday, I went with the Arabic Elders to shop and we went to the mission office for a little bit to email and get stuff. Thank you mum for the brownies! We went to go get an oil change for the car but that took a while. Then we went to a sword shop and 2 thrift stores. We then played some sports at the church with the zone. We had an appointment later that evening and helped set up chairs and tables at the church for a mutual activity on Wednesday. We went to go find an investigator and a referral and do stake packets.
Wednesday, we went to the church to do stuff and get things done and had lunch. Then we tried to visit a potential investigator but he wasn't home. So we went to the store to get cough drops and to the doctor's office to get some stuff for Elder Brooks. We went to see 2 investigators and they are both doing well. One of them is preparing a baptism and the other is going to Virginia for a little over a month. We're still going to teach her by using FaceTime so that's cool. We had to finish up stake packets so that's what we did for the last little bit of the day.
So something pretty cool happened, we saw a freaking McLaren P1 drifting around the corner in the intersection!
Thursday, we went to do weekly planning and do stuff at the church. Then we went to go find some investigators and talk to them. We had 4 appointments but one of them canceled and I was on an exchange with Granite Hills that evening. Friday, we went and played 4 square and had district meeting. Then Elder Kjar and I went back to Tom's house to do personal study and eat lunch. Then we went to go find new investigators and talk to some potential and other investigators. We also saw a police surrounding this crazy lady's house and her dog got tasered and stuff happened.
We found 2 new investigators and they both seem really interested so that's good. We had a couple of appointments and they all went well - one of them is getting baptized soon. Saturday, it started off going to a members house to do service for him but he forgot so we came back and got ready. We had a pretty busy day, so we went to talk to a couple of investigators and referrals. We got 2 new investigators and we had a coordination meeting and lunch at 5 Guys with our ward mission leader and his son. Then we had 3 appointments after and they all went well.
As we were walking down a street, we tried to talk to this man but he said he was busy, so we said could we meet another time, and he's like, "well, you can talk to me as we smoke" and pulls out a ton of weed and one of my companions was like, "sure!" He was like, "really?" and we said ya. He said, "just kidding, I don't have time to smoke with you." Later on that day we saw a man smoking two blunts at the same time! It's pretty crazy and interesting down here.
Later, we had dinner with the Glenn's and we made sushi!! Sunday, we went to ward council and church. We had some investigators there, so that was good and we did some stuff and took a nap before we had a late lunch. We also had a Mission President Devotional which lasted the rest of the day, so it was long but good. Monday, we had interviews and we were at the church from 8:30am and ended about 6pm so that took our whole day. At 2pm we had an appointment so we took off for that and then came back to the church to finish the interviews. We found out that we're going to get smartphones for our mission soon, so that's cool. Then we had a dinner and 2 appointments and they were both good. Tuesday, I went with the Spanish Elders and we had the opportunity to attend the temple so that's cool and we saw the Carlsbad Missionaries there as well and we had a brunch. As we went to go get food, we were trying to find gas on 2 miles left in the tank!
