Oct 17th, 2017 - What a busy and super hot week!

I forgot to mention from my last week's email that Christian Drews (#37) for Utah Utes, had a great game and season. Hope Christian heals up soon!
Also SHOUT OUT to Blake - it was his birthday this past Sunday!! So, happy birthday Blake and hope that you had a great day.
And shout-out to James, Shantel, Jadie, and Holland for sending me a package. Thank you!

On Tuesday evening we just chilled, went shopping, got my tiwi card so now I can drive. Then, we visited or followed up on some investigators and to how they're doing. We also visited some less-active members. Then, I made an exchange with the assistant to the president (AP), Elder Easter from London, UK.
On Wednesday, I was with one of the APs for the day, Elder Ellis from Logan. We got ready and we went over to the President's house to discuss the zone conference that's going to be happening next week. We then picked up the Arabic Elders and went to the mission office to exchange cars and do paperwork stuff. After that, we went to the church to plan for the rest of the day. We had two appointments with Omar and Sidd, they both have such great potential.

Today was a great day to learn and grow from being with Elder Ellis. (AP) Thursday, we played ultimate frisbee in the morning and got ready for the day. Then we had a baptismal interview for Mike. We had weekly planning and we met with Kylie to go over her baptism for this Sunday! We also taught her the commandments. We didn't have a dinner planned with the ward members so we got Cali burritos and took them back to the church to finish a power-point presentation for zone conference Friday morning.
We also had to attend another meeting with the bishopric and talk about which members are still living in El Cajon or if they moved. But mostly we've been working on the presentation for the evening.
On Friday, we got ready to prepare for zone conference and then we went to zone conference for about 7 and half hours. My companions and I were the second to last to teach zone conference and we talked about humility just like MLC earlier during the month. It was a long day to start, and I started getting sleepy during the second half of the conference.
Later, we went to see Javier and talk to him -  but he has been busy and having a hard time lately. We went to the church and finished stake packets and other stuff. Something kinda funny, but when one of my companions was doing language study, he typed in a sentence in his translator and it translated a sentence that said "son of a...", and you can guess the last word of that sentence. So my other companion and I were like "what" and started laughing.

Saturday morning we went to the President's house and had breakfast - Sister Stubbs made us waffles!! We went back to our flat and got ready and planned for the day. We went to a family discover day which is family history work stuff at the church and it was pretty cool to see how it works and how I can do genealogical work for myself and know my ancestors. We had a coordination meeting with our ward mission leader and then we had a FaceTime call with an investigator - it was pretty cool that we're using our technology. After we talked, we went to go teach the final lesson for Kylie because she's getting baptized tomorrow! We're so proud of her.
We went to go find some people but they weren't home and then the bishop took us out to dinner. Sunday, we went to ward council, church, set up for the baptism and then back to the flat to have lunch and take a NAP!! Then we went to go fill the baptismal font and an hour and a half later our investor, Kylie got baptized! We're so proud of her and I know that she will be able to baptize for her mum (in the temple) when she turns 12. It was such a special and neat day. We went to go find less-active members and former investigators but we ran into a man who's name is Malcolm. He's an awesome guy who's a street fighter. He looks like a "G" from the hood with his tats, bling bling with the ring, gold chain with, gang member, and pierced ears. He's a big believer in Christ so he said to come back on Wednesday. He also knows a street fighter from bountiful named Hayden Brown who I knew in high school. Crazy how small the world is. Monday, we went to the church to work on some things, then we went to go find people and try to visit them. Our plans fell through but that's ok. We visited a member and we talked about the second coming and the highlight of my day/night is to be able to talk to some members in the care center facility, they are such nice and sweet people. For the last hour of our night, we met at the church and one of my companions had a singing rehearsal with some of the Arabic Elders.

Love,
Elder Newman
