Dear Family,
It's crazy how there are so many natural disasters! There's so much going on in the world! Last week we got some missionaries from Puerto Rico, so that was pretty cool but sad - they lost everything in the typhoon. They came to San Diego with pretty much nothing, all they had was some snacks, two pairs of clothes, and scriptures. All the missionaries who had 12 weeks or less were sent home and everyone else is trying to leave the country and get reassigned somewhere else to serve for the rest of their mission. Please keep Puerto Rico in your prayers and also the missionaries. Shout-out to Elder Cook and Elder Lalli for being so humble, strong, and helpful as they experience one of the hardest things while on a mission. They had to leave Puerto Rico and the people who they love and cherish. They also had to experience something that we shouldn't go through, but there will be times like that where we need to turn to Christ and ask for help because we can't do everything on our own.

Tuesday, for the rest of the day, we played basketball and just chilled at the stake centre. Then, we went out finding and talking to people on the street. Wednesday, we spent most of our time at the church because we had lots of meetings and interviews from the Mission Presidency. We had 3 appointments today!! One was named Mike and he's an awesome guy and he knows the church is true. We also got a new investigator named Darmika who's from Santa Barbara and she knows and believes in Jesus Christ. Thursday, we were very busy. We met with an investigator who wants to be baptized in November - so that's cool. We also had a baptism interview with another person! We also had stake correlation which is a meeting with all the ward mission leaders and stake presidency where we are taught about how to better teach the congregation to look for "missionary work" opportunities and lead them to us full-time missionaries.

We are going to be putting together these kits for less-active members, people we meet, investigators, etc...... and it's a box filled with a picture of Christ, a pass-along card, the ward mission goal/statement, the Book of Mormon, and a Preach My Gospel book. It's a simple kit that we can give out to help the person learn, know, and teach. Friday was full of meetings. We had two district meetings that took about 2hours each, the life of being with zone leaders! And we're only there to oversee the meeting. Someone has to be in charge, so that's me! Haha just kidding - I'm not ready to take that responsibility.
Anyways, I had some computer stuff to do while one of my companions was doing his language study. For the rest of the evening, we went out finding people who were on our list to see if they still live in the area or if they had moved.

Saturday - what a fun and busy day with general conference and two baptisms! One of the investigators who was being baptized speaks Arabic. So the baptism and the confirmation of receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost was performed in Arabic - which is pretty cool. What a neat and special baptism it was to be done on general conference weekend.

I really liked President Dieter F. Uchtdorf's talk on the Saturday morning session. His talk applied to me and my mission and how we're there to bring others to come unto Christ and. There are two things that we do as full-time missionaries that benefit us and others:
 1. Your life will be better and 2. God will use you to make other lives better.
We are here to change people's lives and have them come unto Christ. But most importantly - us - We change to become better people and come closer to Christ. We had an appointment who wasn't available, but then I had an impression to see Javier and just come by and say hi. We went over to his house and he was home. We were able to talk to him and follow up on some things with him and see how he's doing.
Sunday there was a deaf man who came into the church building. One of the sisters knew sign language so she was able to help and guide him; that was pretty cool to see. W. Craig mentioned a young boy who was in a four-wheeling accident and later passed away. I heard that exact same story from Chad Lewis in an MTC devotional one evening. He said that when he was a teachers quorum teacher, he taught a young boy named Beau who died in a 4-wheeling accident. When the doctors were trying to save his life, his mom had his phone and it beeped. The text said, "Make Christ the center of your life." I realized that we need to put him first before anything you do. When you wake up, read the scriptures and pray and when you go to bed, do the same thing

The ward served the missionaries lunch and it was so good. We taught a new investigator that evening. Our prayers and love go out to the Hales family as they endure the hardship of Elder Robert D. Hales passing away in-between the Sunday sessions.

Monday, we had Mission Leadership Council (MLC) which is a meeting with the President, his wife, all zone leaders, Mormon Battalion Sisters, and the sister-training leaders in the San Diego Mission. It was a long day, the meeting started at 9am and ended at 4pm. My companions and I gave a 45 min power point about humility to pretty much all the leaders in the mission. So I was nervous and I hate giving power points - but it all worked out. Then we had dinner with members of the ward and had MLC call that evening.

Our prayers and love go out to the Las Vegas shooting victims and their families. Times like these bring the best of us together to help each other.

Oh, I almost forgot to give mum a shout-out! The pictures she took from Mexico are going to be in the November Friend Magazine for the church!! So proud of you and thank you for the package! Thanks to Mark May as well for dropping it off.
