Hello, Y'all!
It's been a really fun week!
Tuesday, at the end of the day we played basketball, hung out with the zone and had a pizza party lunch thing. We also got our mail. That evening, my companions and I went to go find former investigators. We also did some street contacting until we had to go do an exchange with some elders.
Wednesday, we went to go find less-active members and investors until we had an appointment with Keith (who's a conspiracy theory man). Then, we tried to find more people until we had another appointment with Mike. He's an awesome guy and has been investigating the church for about 5 years now. We went to mutual until we had to switch back.
Thursday, we had 4 appointments but 2 of them fell through. During one of the appointments, we set a baptismal date for November 4th. The other appointment we also talked about baptism but it's kinda hard since the girl who wants to be baptized is a foster child. The parents who are fostering her said they have to talk to the birth dad, the legal counsel, and the agency. But the foster parents said they would love it if she could be baptized since she goes to church with them.
Friday, we were able to watch such a neat and touching funeral service of Elder Robert D. Hales. May our prayers be upon the Hales family.
After that, we did lots of street contracting and we lost an investigator but gained an investigator. We also got a potential investor and 4 referrals, so pretty much one for one. Saturday, we had district meetings all morning and then we went to go help set up for a baptism and an annual event called "Around the World in 80 minutes". It's just an event where people around the community go to little booths or stations and learn about that country. One my companions and I have been asked to help with the Taiwan station, so that's cool.
We had some appointments, but they weren't there or they said next week since they were busy. Then, we headed to the cultural celebration event and had lots of good food and met people from around the world. We stayed to clean up after the event was over and we were the last 10 people there to leave. It was such an amazing and fun event for the community. Sunday, it was a busy day - we had church and then we did home-bounds to a couple in the ward. We came back to the flat to adjust ourselves and plan for the rest of the day. Then we went to see a new investigator but he wasn't home. We then went to see a less-active member and he was awesome!
Monday, we went and did service with the Espanol Elders and castrated some pigs! It was the closest thing to hunting as a missionary, I only wished I was the one to do it and the cow licked my hand. (Don't worry mum, I washed my hands) Then the member served us lunch and we watched the "Meet the Mormons" movie. We went to go find less-active members and street contacting for the rest of the evening. During the evening, we had to go to the bathroom really bad so we found a gas station nearby and it was a gas station where you have to buy something in order to use the restroom. However, the manager said, "because you guys are nice, you can just use the restroom for free." So that was pretty cool.
